After premiering the world’s first beaded stamp in 2008 and Singapore’s first embroidered appliquĂ©d stamp in 2009, Singapore Post Limited (SingPost) once again introduces an innovative stamp issue – special biodegradable commemorative stamps with seeds.

Titled ‘Our City in a Garden’, this beautifully illustrated stamp issue portrays Singapore’s vibrant urban landscape nestled within a thriving garden of local plants and wildlife. The stamps come in four denominations – 1st Local, S$0.50, S$0.80 and S$1.10. The seed is embossed in S$1.10 stamp only.

Singapore’s Garden City journey started 50 years ago. On 16 June 1963, then-Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew planted a Mempat tree in Farrer Circus, signifying the beginning of Singapore’s greening efforts. To commemorate 50 years of Greening Singapore, the stamps come in biodegradable paper with the 1st local stamp affixed with the seed of the Portulaca Grandiflora for planting.

Singapore

Gardens by the Bay ( Chinese: 滚攷æčŸèŠ±ć›) is a park spanning 101 hectares (250 acres) of reclaimed land in central Singapore, adjacent to the Marina Reservoir. The park consists of three waterfront gardens: Bay South Garden, Bay East Garden and Bay Central Garden.

Gardens by the Bay is an integral part of a strategy by the Singapore government to transform Singapore from a “Garden City” to a “City in a Garden”. The stated aim is to raise the quality of life by enhancing greenery and flora in the city. First announced to the public by Prime Minister, Mr Lee Hsien Loong during the National Day Rally in August 2005, Gardens by the Bay is intended to become Singapore’s premier urban outdoor recreation space, and a national icon.

An international competition for the design of the master plan, held in January 2006, attracted more than 70 entries submitted by 170 firms from 24 countries. Two firms – Grant Associates and Gustafson Porter – were eventually awarded the master plan design for the Bay South and Bay East Gardens respectively. The park has proven extremely popular for event planners, with demand so high that the park has to limit the number of events to three per week.

The set of stamps issued on October 22, 2003 .Thanks to Eddi for a nice beautiful and attractive cover for me. 🙂

Croatia

This cover shows Ethanograpic heritage of Croatia showing  Textile folk art miniature sheet. It was issued in 30.09.2012.

As Croatia is rather diverse, they are in possession of a huge treasure of this slow-motion history. Aware of its value as well as of its volatility, today they mark it – by assigning it the task to denote identity. Croatian Post launched a series of postage stamps with the motifs of folk costumes… What used to be enduring and persevering – dialects, fashion, surnames, customs, meals, tools, jobs and days
 – all of these were local, unique, different and individual; all of these have nowadays become assimilated into a universal mass in the communication cauldron. It is true that in the Mediterranean jewellery the pre-historic forms are still alive as well as the materials and techniques or the Roman motifs. The thick weave of dark earthen colour – the “interior combustion” of Ravni Kotari, corals that have come from the Pannonian Sea and in clinking, dark red rows enrich the blouses from Prigorje (Bistra), magical flowers that survived from the Baroque altar cloth on the aprons from Posavina and still exude scents (Sunja) and, finally, the ancient mannerist trellis work of the Pag lace that at some time could be seen on the collarFIAP Calendears of Spanish kings, the lace that used to cross over the whole of the Mediterranean and has nowadays stopped here with us, belonging to the luxurious whiteness of the sparse island.  They are going to have it as long as we retain our pride. This series of postage stamps issued by the Croatian Post is a contribution in this sense.

Thank you Josip for sending me this awesome cover. Showing the history Ethanograpic heritage. 🙂

Pakistan Post has released four special postage stamps each denomination of Rs8 on the eve of Eid celebration. The stamp has been designed by Adil Salahuddin, Pride of Performance/Sitara-e-Imtiaz and printed by the Pakistan Security Printing Corporation Karachi.Date of Issue 13 Aug 2012

Eid al-Fitr ( Arabic: ŰčÙŠŰŻ Ű§Ù„ÙŰ·Ű±â€Ž Ê»ÄȘd al-Fiáčr, , “Festival of breaking of the fast”), also called Feast of Breaking the Fast, the Sugar Feast, the Sweet Festival and the Lesser Eid, is an important religious holiday celebrated by Muslims worldwide that marks the end of Ramadan, the Islamic holy month of fasting. The religious Eid is a single day and Muslims are not permitted to fast that day. The holiday celebrates the conclusion of the 29 or 30 days of dawn-to-sunset fasting during the entire month of Ramadan. The day of Eid, therefore, falls on the first day of the month of Shawal . This is a day where Muslims around the world try to show a common goal of unity. Since some of the countries have different calculation and observation techniques, the day of celebration may change 1 day depending on the country, but in most of the Islamic countries, it is celebrated on the same day.

Thank you Patrick for providing me a nice cover with nice cancellation. 🙂

Nice beautiful registered cover on topic Children’s Day ,2010 and Rashtrapati Bhavan of India,2011.

Rashtrapati Bhavan (Hindi for President house) is the official home of the President of India. It may refer to only the mansion (the 340-room main building) that has the President’s official residence, halls, guest rooms and offices; it may also refer to the entire 130 hectare (320 acre) President Estate that additionally includes huge presidential gardens ( Mughal  Gardens), large open spaces, residences of bodyguards and staff, stables, other offices and utilities within its perimeter walls. By comparison, the White house in USA is 18 acres in area including gardens and open spaces.

India Post released a stamp on 14th November 2010 to commemorate Children’s day. Every year this topic get issued regularly. In India, Children’s Day is celebrated on November 14 every year. This date marks the birth anniversary of independent India’s first Prime Minister, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. Children’s day is celebrated on this day in recognition of his lifelong fondness and work for children. He always regarded all children with affection and love, and was well known for being likeable to children. Children also loved him very much and called him “Chacha Nehru” (“Chacha” meaning uncle, younger brother of father).

Thanks Kasinath from Tamil Nadu of our country for sending me a registered cover on this topic and also thanks for the nice gifts for me.

United Kingdom

Uk

Issued on 9 January, London Underground features ten stamps; six charting the history of the network, alongside a miniature sheet of four long-format stamps focusing on the design heritage of its iconic posters. The issue date coincides with the precise anniversary in 1863 of the first part of what was to become London’s Underground: the steam-driven Metropolitan Railway running between Paddington Station and Farringdon Street via Kings Cross. Fittingly it’s the Metropolitan Railway that features on the first of two 2nd class stamps, while the other shows railway workers, or Navvies as they were known commonly, excavating a tube tunnel. Edwardian commuters travelling in from the suburbs are depicted on one of the 1st class pair of stamps, while the other features the Piccadilly Line’s Boston Manor, an example of many art deco stations built in the 1920s and 30s. Classic rolling stock travelling on the tube’s ‘deep cut’ lines in 1938 and Sir Norman Foster’s Canary Wharf Station make up the £1.28p pair. Each of the stamps features a timeline across the lower quarter of the stamps using different livery colours taken from London Underground lines.

Thanks to my best friend of UK ,who arrange a nice registered cover for me. 🙂 🙂
